Best Pizzeria in Town

The best pizzeria in the Balkans, at least in my experience, is Pizzeria Bellini, on Strada Eminescu (at junction of Str Tunari). Unlike it's posh neighbour (Trattoria Roma) it has no website and their phone number can't be found online.

But I just found their phone number which is 021 211 5959.

Pizzeria Bellini has the essential ingredients for a great pizzeria, a good chef, a wood fired oven and low prices (less than €3 euro for a great pizza).

What it doesn't have is fancy decor (the ceiling is blackened by wood smoke) or sexy waitresses.

Sometimes it doesn't have any  waitresses at all; once I was there and the cook served me himself, which is absolutely fine by me as most waiters seem to spend most of their time doing nothing.

There is another Bellina Pizzeria in the centre of town where it DOES have fancy waiters, skinny unshaven dudes in tight black trousers and sour expressions, but I avoid this place as it's full of smoke and Romanian YUPPIES (Young Urban Professionals). Their prices are way higher than the "real" Bellini and their pizzas worse.

They are really friendly at "my" Bellini on Eminescu and this is another great asset. You can sit there all day without being made to feel guilty.

Next door in Trattoria Roma they're more snooty and tend to look at you with the attitude "you're not quite fat/rich/mafiosi enough to be our ideal client...

What? you're only ordering pasta and water? What a zgircit! You can tell he's Scottish! Look at those bosses over there with their steaks, fish and wine and the skinny chicks on the side...now that's what I call a good client, someone worth showing my cleavage to..."
